At Cambridge Primary School the Buddies program gives senior students in Years 5 and 6 an opportunity to develop leadership and nurturing skills by taking on the responsibility of keeping a watchful eye on an assigned student from Prep and Year 1. Each buddy partnership meets on a regular basis and all are involved in group activities and discuss issues related to values development education. This program also reinforces the school transition program for new Prep children each year and also gives smaller children the comfort of knowing that an older child is there to support them.
