“Cambridge Kids are Caring Kids”
A large part of the student welfare approach at Cambridge is the emphasis on promoting and reinforcing the school’s values. A values program is run at the beginning of the year for 4 weeks where classes develop their classrooms expectations and behaviours based upon the school’s values. Other programs that support our values are: · Fortnightly focus on the school’s values in the newsletter at assemblies and within the classroom. · Student Led assemblies reading the value for the fortnight · Buddies program – students in Grade 6 are paired with students in Prep and enjoy various structured activities both within the classroom and out in the yard · Peer support program – students in Grade 5 are trained peer support leaders and work with groups of students in year 3. · Values Slips to children who exhibit the school values each week at assembly · Peer mediation – Year 6 students who are trained in conflict resolution work on mediating problems in the yard over recess and lunchtime. · Student of the Week Awards – some classes recognise the achievements of students through these awards. The school promotes at every opportunity the importance of Respect, Resilience, Caring, Honesty and Positivity not only through the curriculum but through daily modelling. |
