ENROLMENT : Parents are requested to provide the school with all necessary information to facilitate enrolment and should inform the office of any changes to this information as soon as possible. It is the school's policy that all of the necessary paper work and support documentation is processed on the date of the enrolment and that the child will start at the school on the following day. This allows for discussion with the principal, the previous school and the relevant teachers to maximise each child's placement. Parents will complete the Confidential Student Information Form and Emergency Card with assistance from the Office Staff. A copy of the Enrolment Form for the Out of School Hours Care Program will be presented to parents for completion. The Section Leaders will be asked, after consultation with class teachers, to determine the class into which the new student will be enrolled. The Principal and/or Assistant Principal are to be informed of the desired outcome. School Hours: Our official hours are 8.45am until 3.15pm. Children are expected to be on time for all class sessions. If it is necessary for your child to be collected early from school, the Early Dismissal Book must be signed at the Office. Wherever possible please make appointments outside school hours. We encourage parents not to send children to school before 8.30am which is the start time for teacher supervision of the yard. Children must attend school regularly: If a child is absent at any time parents are required to phone the school office. A written note signed by a parent must be presented to the child's class teacher. Extended or repeated absences will result in a discussion between the parent and the Principal. Children who are late to school must be signed in at the office by a parent/guardian and will be given a slip to pass on to the class teacher. At NO TIME should parents interrupt a grade: Any parent wishing to talk to a teacher about important issues should make an appointment through the school office. This will be arranged at a mutually convenient time. Incidental discussions should be conducted outside class times whenever possible. Visitor's Pass: When parents are working in the school they must sign in at the General Office and receive a Visitor's Pass. Pre school children must also be signed in. School Uniform: The wearing of school colours is COMPULSORY. The school colours are navy blue, and white. If for any reason your child comes to school not wearing school colours please send a note with an explanation. Parents will be asked to explain if their child does not conform to the school uniform requirements. The Uniform shop is open on Wednesdays between 8.45am and 9.30am. Alternatively orders can be placed and prepaid for at the school office and then uniforms are sent home with the children. All articles of clothing need to be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Cambridge Primary School is a Sunsmart school. As such, all children are expected to wear an approved hat when playing outdoors in the school grounds or on a school organised excursion in Term 1 and Term 4. This rule applies each day, irrespective of weather conditions on the day.
Out of School Hours Care: Cambridge Primary School offers a Before and After School Care program. These programs run from 7am to 8:30am and from 3:15pm to 6:30pm after school. For further information about enrolling in these programs please ask at the School Office. There is no Holiday Programs available at Cambridge, however some neighbouring primary schools do have these programs available. Enquiries can be made to Wyndham Council. The costs are $9 a morning for Before School Care and this includes breakfast. After School Care is $10.00 a night per child. The Cambridge Primary School Out of School Hours program is eligible for Childcare Assistance. A healthy and nutritious afternoon tea is provided at After School Care. Homework completion activities are supervised. School Council Contributions: Each year the Finance Committee of the School Council meet to consider budgets for all of our programs. To cover the shortfall between the government grant and the total cost, a contribution is set for each of our children. Without the support of all Cambridge Primary School families, our programs would be cut considerably. Notices for school council contributions will be sent out at the end of each year with children’s booklists. Copies of the schools book packs for all grade levels are available from the office. It is expected that all families will contribute to the educational support of their children so that the school can continue to provide the very best facilities and resources. This contribution goes towards maintaining the eLearning Centre to its current outstanding level as well as contributing to major projects and upgrades around the school. Each term parents are also requested to pay in advance for excursions, camps, swimming, visiting performers, sports etc. to assist with school organisation. Cash Register: The school has a cash register which is directly linked to the School's Accounting System. Individual receipts will be issued when paying for excursions, camps, levies, etc. Money should be in a sealed envelope or paper bag with the student's name, grade, amount and reason for payment. Money should be sent to the classroom. Eftpos and Credit card facilities are available at the school office. School Crossings and Parking: The majority of our students have to cross a road coming to and from school, if they walk to school. Parents can ensure their child's safety by enforcing the use of the school crossing. If bringing children to school by car, please observe the parking restrictions - PARKING IN THE STAFF CAR PARK IS NOT ALLOWED. Do not put other children at risk by parking illegally. The Wyndham City Council car park at the back of the school is deemed as a drop off zone. Medicines Policy: All medicines must be registered at the office and will be administered under supervision at the office. No medicines are to be held in classrooms and parents must sign the appropriate form at the office allowing staff to administer it. Head check Policy: Parents are requested to sign a consent form to allow headlice checks to be carried out on their children if there is an outbreak at the school. Children whose parents have not signed the consent form will have to be excluded from school when headlice are discovered. School staff are trained to conduct headlice checks and parents will be notified of the results as soon as possible. Only those classrooms where there is evidence of headlice will be checked to avoid unnecessary time wasting. Internet Users Policy: Parents are requested to sign an "Internet Users Policy" that requires their children to use the Internet in an appropriate manner. Strict guidelines and policies must be adhered to too ensure that this resource is used appropriately. Refer to the policies section. Education Maintenance Allowance: This allowance is payable to all parents who hold a valid pensioner concession card or a health care benefit card. Payments will be made in Terms 1 and 3, subject to a verification process by Centrelink. The school and the family receive a set payment for each individual EMA claim. The money paid to the school will be used for the educational needs of the eligible students. There are strict timelines for making applications for EMA. |
