School Profile

Cambridge Primary School is located amongst several new housing developments in Hoppers Crossing, in close proximity to a regional shopping centre. Opened in 1992 with an enrolment of 243 children, this number had more than doubled within two years, reflecting the movement of many young families into the area. By 1997, the student population had exceeded 760 children. Today we have again an increasing population currently at 688 children with as many as 55 different ethnic backgrounds.

The school building's unique architecture, incorporating creative suggestions from local residents, offers outstanding resources for students, as well as the wider community.

The facilities at Cambridge Primary School include a library, gymnasium, music room, art/craft centre, eLearning Centre, a combination of permanent and relocatable classrooms and an Out of Hours School Care facility, many of which are used regularly by various community groups, thereby achieving one of the original goals of the school's design and location.

The staff at Cambridge Primary School are enthusiastic and dedicated. They work as a cohesive team, aiming to achieve excellence from each student. Parents are active partners in our school community. Their participation is an integral component of our school's life with their skills, talents and enthusiasm being readily utilised.

The School Council works keenly with the staff to ensure that positive educational outcomes are achieved for our children. Since it opened in 1992, Cambridge Primary School has developed an outstanding reputation for its achievements, innovation and for continually striving for excellence.

Cambridge Primary School was the first government Primary School  globally to be granted International Accreditation through the European Council of International Schools.  In March 2000 the Department of Education and Training invited Cambridge Primary School to adopt accreditation as an International School - an invitation the school accepted. We are now currently in our 9th year as an Internationally Accredited School. As part the schools commitment to providing our students with a Global perspective to education, we are investigating the introduction of the highly recognised International Baccalaureate, and as a consequence several staff have undertaken professional development in this Internationally Accredited Curriculum program.
