Cambridge Primary School acknowledges the diverse range of skills, abilities, talents and learning styles of individual students and recognizes that some students have the potential to perform well above what is expected in a specific area of the curriculum. The school believes that these students and their talents need nurturing to realise their full potential.

These abilities may be academic, artistic, athletic, technological, or in personal and leadership skills.

A variety of diagnostic tools are employed to determine the potential of our students, which include input from: teachers, parents, professional consultants (eg educational psychologists), peers and the students themselves.

As part of their classroom planning, all teachers utilise a range of diverse curriculum approaches. Thinking skills, research skills and multi-level teaching strategies such as: Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, Bloom's Taxonomy, De Bono’s 6 Thinking Hats, Direct Attention Thinking Tools and Habits of the Mind are part of the mainstream curriculum.

The inclusive approach keeps students in the regular classroom except for enrichment programs that may extend abilities in mathematics, science, technology, creative thinking, art, PE, performing arts, literacy or sports. Individual Learning Plans are developed however, for individual students where appropriate.

Students at Cambridge can participate in competitions and special events such as Tournament of Minds,  the Wyndham Arts Festival
Maths Talent Quest, the University of NSW English, Maths and Computer Competitions and Young Writers Read Around, are offered to students in order to meet and broaden their learning experiences.
