Students need to develop a lifelong understanding of and interest in eLearning and technology. Computers and other technologies are increasingly becoming a part of all aspects of life including work, home and schooling.

 

Through allowing students access to a wide range of technology and technological understandings, we encourage students to adapt to future advancement in technology. The ability of students to be able to adapt to an ever changing technological environment will allow students to function efficiently in later schooling and work life.

 

Cambridge Primary School is highly committed to the provision of quality eLearning facilities that enhance student learning. Cambridge has a range of technologies available for students and staff to use. Computers take up a large portion of the technology at the school, providing the school with a computer lab of 18 computers.

 

Supporting the eLearning Centre, each classroom contains 3 PCs. Scanners are distributed throughout the school, 2 for every four grades in Grades P-2 and 1 per double room in Grades 3-6. These can be rotated between grades during the course of the year.

 

In addition there are:

· laser colour printers and a laser black and white printers.

· teacher modeling is enhanced through the use of 2 permanently mounted SMART board interactive whiteboards, which is supported by a data projector. One Smartboard is portable and is available for classroom usage.

· All staff have leased Laptops as part of the Laptops for Teachers program.

· A series of laptop  computers are also available to compliment classroom usage.

· Digital cameras, a digital video camera, and video conference cameras are also available from the library.

 

Students are timetabled for 1 hour of eLearning Centre classes every week for the year, receiving instructional lessons in file storage and retrieval and specific applications, with content based on classroom themes/topics.

 

The school is also “wireless” capable.
