All students at Cambridge Primary School are involved in a Transition program that allows them to experience the next level of their education. Prep Transition is an opportunity for curious kinder children to spend approximately 6 one hour sessions in a Prep classroom in preparation for their first year at school. Parents of Prep children are also invited to attend Information Evenings and Parent Partnership programs run by staff at the school which complement their child’s entry into Primary School education at Cambridge.
Cambridge also runs an intraschool transition program from P-Grade 5 each year. Children also get the experience of spending time with their next year’s teacher during late Term 4. Each year, our Year 6 students visit three of Wyndham’s local secondary colleges – Werribee Secondary College, The Grange Senior Campus and Galvin Park Secondary College – for a day in Term two. They attend classes, are shown around each campus and experience recess and/or lunchtime at the schools. Our students enjoy this program, as it allows them to familiarise themselves with the various schools and ask questions of current students. Representatives of secondary colleges visit our students later in the year to discuss any issues and give out any necessary information. The first Tuesday in December is set aside for all Year 6 students accepted into government secondary schools to attend an Orientation Day at their new school. |
